OUR STORY
HOW IT ALL BEGAN
Tow Distributing was founded in 1974 by Mr. Keith Tow. Originally, a Schlitz distributor the company diversified its brands starting in 1980 by acquiring the local Anheuser-Busch distributor and in 1984 when Coors began to expand east of the Rockies it acquired the distribution rights to the Coors Brewing portfolio, thus cementing Tow Distributing as a market leader in South Central Minnesota. Additionally, in 1984 Tow Distributing purchased the distribution rights to Anheuser-Busch brands in an adjacent territory expanding the company’s service area to 13 counties. Shortly thereafter, Tow Distributing moved to its current home on 3rd Avenue in Mankato.
The company has always strived to provide unparalleled customer service and offer a broad array of beer brands and non-alcoholic products. Today this mission is carried on by the current owners; Keith Tow, Henry Savelkoul and John Kocina. Mr. Kocina leads a management team that is committed to relentless retail execution to ensure that Tow Distributing remains the first choice of our retail customers and that the company’s brands are preferred by consumers throughout South Central Minnesota.
When Tow Distributing entered the beer business three other local beer distributors operated out of the Mankato and North Mankato area. Today, only Tow Distributing remains. Employing approximately 40 people that work and reside in the greater Mankato area Tow Distributing is proud to be a responsible and active member of our community.
